Sixty Years Strong: Continuing a Proud Tradition

On 24th of October, Zambia celebrated her 60th birthday. In line with a sixth decade-long tradition of celebrating the country’s Independence Day through football, we hosted a 4-teams (female football) tournament with participants from across the district.

When Zambia gained its independence from British colonial rule on 24th October 1964, the highlight of the day was a football tournament hosted by the newly independent nation. Ever since, football has played a pivotal role in marking the country’s sovereignty as an independent nation.

Following this proud tradition, our female team Mbete Queens invited Kapoko Queens, Mpulungu United, and Eventure Zambia for a bunch of exciting, enjoyable games of football. Below follows pictures from the day:
